It doesn’t really get much better than this when it comes to a day of adventure on the Great Barrier Reef.

In many resorts around the world, the pool is often the jewel in the crown. If built and landscaped correctly, the pool can be the centrepiece of the entire resort, the hub of activity where couples laze under umbrellas sipping cocktails and parents look on as their kids busy themselves in the water for hours on end.

The grand lobby of the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort with its huge pillars and wide open-plan design with plenty of comfy places to relax, made a spectacular first impression on us.
